Second-OrderSignal: Moderate

LIVE MARKET DATA NOT YET CONNECTED — price, movement, and market cap will appear here with source and timestamp once a data provider is integrated.

Red Cardinal Snapshot

WHAT IT DOES

AMD designs the processors that run much of modern computing — EPYC server CPUs, Ryzen PCs, the chips inside game consoles — and, increasingly, MI-series accelerators built to do what NVIDIA's GPUs do: train and run AI models.

HOW IT MAKES MONEY

By selling chips, not making them. AMD designs; TSMC manufactures. Data-center CPUs and AI accelerators are the growth engine, with PCs, gaming, and the Xilinx-derived embedded business rounding out the mix.

WHY WE TRACK IT

Every buyer of AI compute wants a second source — a credible alternative that keeps the dominant supplier honest on price and supply. AMD is the industry's designated second source, which means its trajectory measures how much of the AI buildout escapes NVIDIA's tollbooth.

THE SIMPLE THESIS

AMD doesn't need to beat NVIDIA to win — it needs to be good enough that trillion-dollar buyers insist on having it. The question is whether 'good enough' can overcome CUDA, the software moat that makes NVIDIA's chips the ones developers already know how to use.
