Red Cardinal Snapshot
WHAT IT DOES
Arista builds the high-speed switches and routing software that connect servers inside the world's largest data centers. Its real product is EOS — one operating system that runs across its entire hardware line — sold on top of merchant chips it buys rather than designs.
HOW IT MAKES MONEY
By selling switching systems to cloud giants and large enterprises, with software and support attached. Because it buys its silicon from Broadcom instead of building fabs or custom chips, the margin lives in the software and the engineering, not the metal.
WHY WE TRACK IT
An AI cluster is a network as much as it is a pile of chips. Every GPU NVIDIA ships needs a fabric to make it useful, and Arista is the independent champion of Ethernet — the open standard — in the fight for that fabric against NVIDIA's own networking.
THE SIMPLE THESIS
If AI clusters keep scaling, the network becomes the bottleneck and the battleground. Arista wins if the industry standardizes on open Ethernet fabrics it leads; it loses if NVIDIA bundles the network with the GPUs, or if its giant customers build their own.
